Important Points about Kashi<\/b><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Kashi (Varanasi)<\/strong>\u2014also called Avimukta<\/strong>\u2014is the holiest and most extraordinary place in the cosmos (Brahmanda)<\/p>

  • Dying in Kashi grants effortless liberation (moksha)<\/strong>, surpassing even the merit gained at other sacred places like Prayag.<\/p><\/li>

  • Kashi is uniquely sacred because Lord Vi\u015bve\u015bvara (Shiva)<\/strong> personally presides over it and protects it, even during cosmic dissolution (pralaya), keeping it lifted on the tip of his trident.<\/p><\/li>

  • The city exists in a perpetual state of purity: eternal K\u1e5btayuga, continuous auspiciousness, untouched by planetary movements or cosmic cycles.<\/p><\/li>

  • Kashi is superior to the fourteen worlds<\/strong>, created not by Brahma but directly by Shiva.<\/p><\/li>

  • Yama (the god of death)<\/strong> and his messengers have no authority<\/strong> within Kashi; instead, Shiva\u2019s ga\u1e47as guard it.<\/p><\/li>

  • Those who die in Kashi are directly under the control of Vi\u015bve\u015ba<\/strong>, with Kalabhairava<\/strong> punishing sinners.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    WARNING<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

    • Sinners and immoral people<\/strong>\u2014including slanderers, adulterers, frauds, greedy recipients of gifts, deceivers, and those who harm others\u2014should not reside in Kashi.<\/p><\/li>

    • One must avoid committing sin in Kashi, as punishment from Rudra can be more terrible than hell.<\/p><\/li>

    • Those who neglect devotion to Shiva, mock the Vedas, or oppose righteous conduct should not stay there<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

      80.<\/strong> By ending one’s mortal life in K\u0101\u015b\u012b, one attains effortless salvation\u2014greater even than that obtained at Pray\u0101ga, the lord of all sacred fords in the world.<\/p>\n

      81.<\/strong> Without doubt, Avimukta is more enchanting than Pray\u0101ga, because Vi\u015bve\u015bvara Himself directly presides over it.<\/p>\n

      82.<\/strong> Nowhere in the entire cosmic sphere is anything more delightful than Avimukta, the great holy place governed by Vi\u015bve\u015ba.<\/p>\n

      83.<\/strong> Although located at the very center of the Cosmic Egg, Avimukta lies five kro\u015bas (1 kro\u015ba = 3 km) away from its middle.<\/p>\n

      84.<\/strong> Whenever the waters of the vast ocean rise during cosmic dissolution (pralaya), the Lord lifts this holy region above the flood level.<\/p>\n

      85.<\/strong> O Br\u0101hma\u1e47a, this sacred place rests on the tip of Lord \u015aiva\u2019s trident in the intermediate region, without touching the ground. People of deluded intellect fail to perceive this.<\/p>\n

      86.<\/strong> The K\u1e5btayuga exists perpetually here. There is everlasting festivity. No planetary rise or setting can bring inauspiciousness to the hermitage of Vi\u015bve\u015bvara.<\/p>\n

      87.<\/strong> Here, the gentle northern transit of the Sun (Saumy\u0101yana) is eternal; auspiciousness prevails forever where Vi\u015bve\u015bvara dwells.<\/p>\n

      88.<\/strong> O Br\u0101hma\u1e47a, K\u0101\u015b\u012b should not be regarded as equal to the thousands of cities on earth. It is superior even to the fourteen worlds.<\/p>\n

      89.<\/strong> O noble Br\u0101hma\u1e47a, although I created the fourteen worlds, the creator of this city is none other than Lord Vi\u015bve\u015bvara Himself.<\/p>\n

      90.<\/strong> Long ago, Yama performed extremely severe penance for a long time and thereby gained authority over all three worlds\u2014except for the city of V\u0101r\u0101\u1e47as\u012b.<\/p>\n

      91.<\/strong> All the activities of the world, of both moving and unmoving beings, fall within the knowledge and records of Citragupta\u2014except for those who live in K\u0101\u015b\u012b.<\/p>\n

      92.<\/strong> O excellent Br\u0101hma\u1e47a, the messengers of Yama have no right to enter the city of K\u0101\u015b\u012b. The attendants of Rudra stand guard there.<\/p>\n

      93.<\/strong> Vi\u015bve\u015ba Himself governs those who die in K\u0101\u015b\u012b. K\u0101labhairava punishes those who commit sins there.<\/p>\n

      94.<\/strong> No one should commit sin in this place. The punishments inflicted by the Rudras are terrible. Becoming a Rudra-pi\u015b\u0101ca (a tormented spirit) is more unbearable than suffering in hell.<\/p>\n

      95.<\/strong> If one insists on committing sin, let it be done elsewhere; the earth is vast enough.<\/p>\n

      96.<\/strong> Even a lustful creature avoids its own mother. Likewise, K\u0101\u015b\u012b alone should be avoided by one intent on sinning, if he desires salvation.<\/p>\n

      97.<\/strong> K\u0101\u015b\u012b should not be visited by those who habitually slander others or by those who desire adultery with another man\u2019s wife. What comparison can be drawn between K\u0101\u015b\u012b and hell?<\/p>\n

      98.<\/strong> Those who pursue wealth through accepting gifts (pratigraha) or through deceitful means should avoid K\u0101\u015b\u012b; such persons ought not to reside there.<\/p>\n

      99.<\/strong> Any act that causes pain to others should always be avoided in K\u0101\u015b\u012b. If a wicked person persists in such behavior, what benefit can residence in K\u0101\u015b\u012b bring him?<\/p>\n

      100.<\/strong> Those who abandon devotion to Vi\u015bve\u015bvara and worship other deities should not live here. This is the capital city of the Lord who wields the Pin\u0101ka bow.<\/p>\n

      101.<\/strong> O Br\u0101hma\u1e47a, Avimukta should not be sought by those who pursue wealth or sensual pleasure, for this is the holy place of liberation.<\/p>\n

      102.<\/strong> V\u0101r\u0101\u1e47as\u012b should not be approached by those who criticize \u015aiva, ridicule the Vedas, or oppose the way of life prescribed by them.<\/p>\n

      103.<\/strong> K\u0101\u015b\u012b does not aid the spiritual progress of those who think of oppressing others, who are jealous, or who torment other beings.<\/p>\n

      104.<\/strong> Even speaking of salvation is meaningless for those of wicked actions and crooked minds who cannot bring themselves to praise K\u0101\u015b\u012b, even inwardly.<\/p>\n

      105.<\/strong> Without knowledge, there is no salvation anywhere\u2014and such knowledge cannot be attained merely through vows or rites such as the C\u0101ndr\u0101ya\u1e47a.<\/p>\n

      <\/p>\n

      106\u2013109.<\/strong> Knowledge cannot truly be gained through gifts\u2014even great ones like tul\u0101puru\u1e63a\u2014no matter how faithfully performed, how well-timed, or how rightly given.
      It is not attained through disciplines of restraint like celibacy, through worship, through severe austerities that weaken the body, or through the chanting of great mantras taught by teachers.
      Nor is it acquired through diligent study of the Vedas, through scrupulous maintenance of the sacred fire, through service to teachers, through \u015br\u0101ddha rites, through the worship of deities, or through many forms of pilgrimage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
